A piping hot day and many people ran/limped Stockholm Marathon. Three people had a book club meeting instead. We started at Solstugan where we discussed one book while quenching our thirst with some wheat beer, then moved on to Mälarpaviljongen for book number two and a few draughts, and finally our promenade led us to Kungsholmen (Melker Anderssons och Danyel Couets restaurant) where the Auster-book was talked about and the beers finally got accompanied by some food as we found ourselves beset by hunger.
Book 18 - "The Fuck-Up" by Arthur Nersesian (1991)
Anders 2 - An idiotic book about an idiot acting as an idiot. You know what will happen from start to end and it all works out in four lines at the end.
Ola 2 - A telling title. Nuff said!
Krister 2 - I give the book this lofty rating due to the fact that I have walked the same streets as the main character.
Average rating 2
Book 19 - "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman (2001)
Anders 6 - Out of all Gods described Neil Gaiman is number one. Perhaps the coolest character names ever; Shadow, Mr Wednesday, Chernobog...
Ola 5 - A common book about uncommon things. Parallell worlds, Gods and a fine lot of stories about stories.
Krister 5 - Brilliant. I believe every word.
Average rating 5,33 (Gaiman on a gayboat - how can it possibly be anything but 5,33?)
Book 20 - "Travels in the Scriptorium" by Paul Auster (2006)
Anders 4 - Paul Auster criticizing himself. Plus points as it is short.
Ola 4 - A step into the author's interior - where nothing is as clear as glass - with reference to former work, but few question marks straighten out.
Krister 4 - An answer book without answers.
Average rating 4
