Patos XVII (almost) - 100815 - Åkulla, Halland

The day after Hanna & Viktor got married (congratulations to the great couple - Patos was there) we were supposed to have a meeting at the same place as the wedding was held - which turned out to be the exact spot where Ola did some orienteering while attending compulsary school a few years back. The pastor (Anna) who officiated at the wedding - and who sat beside Ola during the wedding dinner, amicably conversing about faith et cetera - was almost going to attend the Patos meeting as a first time outsider - as she had also read one of the books up for discussion: The Shack. But the pastor had to leave early in the morning so she couldn't make it. After dancing in gentle rain at dawn it was easy to sleep in, and when Kristers pregnant girlfriend Kristina steered their car north Anders and Ola were barely awake. So the meeting was postponed...

    Hello all you mebers of Patos!

    I´m honor when I´m reading that I was almost going to attend the Patos meeting as a first time outsider!
    Maybe I somet times get a second chance!
    During the dinner Ola gave me the title on a book that i`m now have been reading. And this is my comments of the book "The God delusion"

    First, I want to distinguish between faith and religion. Unfortunately, many people are abusing themselves and others by protecting themselves behind their religion. It has hurt many and much. I would like to comment more on faith.

    I believe that all people who believe one day face a doubt. But while you meet people who are saying that they never have doubted. This doubt is about God's existence. Believing is more than simply believing in the existence of God. The faith is also about to confide, to trust.
    I believe you will find both faith, hope and love, it becomes like a trinity, just as Father, Son and Spirit.
    Today we live in a mantra that says we can only believe what is proved. When you require that something must be proven we talk often on scientific evidence. There are also metaphysical evidence. Thomas of Aquinas talks about this in his five god proof. It´s impossible to prove God only through scientific evidence.
    Behind what we see there must be a reason, someone has done this. there is no scientific proof but metaphysical evidence.
    Perhaps non-Christians think that Christians are afraid of science. The church has made mistakes when scientists have come up with something new and they belived it goes against the Bible, then theey realize that it did not.
    Within the church there are many scientists.


    An atheist, he was asked: "What could make you believe that God exists?"

    "That he would come up to me and introduce themselves as ordinary people usually do."

    God has actually presented itself. He has become human. Maybe you can not demand that he do so throughout history. Why can we not believe in those who had seen him? There's lots of history books that we believe in, most of the time we know through others, so why not do it in God?

    One can believe in God. One can believe in Jesus. One can believe in The Great Flying Saucer Myth...

    I saw a movie a while ago where the principal actor was asked "Do you believe in God?"
    He replied "Faith is a gift I have yet to receive..."

    Now that's diplomacy/Ola
